34 Roadster 34 Coupe 34 Sport sedan 1934 Chassis

1934 Roadster from £1700

The 1933 and 1934 roadsters are very similar and most people can't tell one from the other. The only difference is in the grill and the hood (bonnet). 1933 Fords have gently curved louvers in the hood (bonnet) sides whereas 1934 Fords feature straight louvers. After Fords 1932 milestone design one might of thought Fords designers would take a rest for a year or two.  After all it would be almost impossible to build another car more beautiful than the '32 Ford. However Edsel Ford and his team of designers managed to design yet another classically beautiful, yet modern automobile. By 1933 demand for the cheaper standard model was drying up. Just 233 standard roadsters were ordered. Most roadster buyers were prepared to pay the extra and bought the V8 deluxe with 4,223 examples changing hands for $510 each. Just 101 customers bought the deluxe 4 cylinder, making a grand total of just 4557 33 roadsters. By 1934 nobody wanted the basic models.  4 skinflints ordered the standard roadster and only 32 people ordered the four cylinder. The vast majority (5,038) went for the deluxe V8 roadster with rumble seat and leather seating. Well wouldn't you? Despite a two year run the 33-34 sold even less than it's predecessor, the 1932 Ford roadster. People were opting for the more practical convertibles with their roll-up side windows. 1936 would be the last year for the roadster. Due to declining sales, Ford used a lot of wood in the inner structure of the 33-34 roadster, so if you're good at wood work, you can frame out your Rodline body using wood, just like Ford did.
