1929
Tudor from £1929 |
"Ford's most popular car, this
year and for years to come, was the Tudor Sedan, of which 1,948 copies
were built in 1927 and 208,562 were turned out in 1928, for a model-year
presentation of 210,510. Initially priced at $495, the cute little car
slowly rose to $550. It weighed 2,340 pounds. The interiors were available
in two types of gray cloth with gray headlining and doors panels and
liner. Initially brown carpets were supplied but these reverted to black
rubber floor mats late in the season. Blue silk roller shades were fitted
over the rear window. Unlike the Fordor, the Tudor also used the
"coupe pillar" design at the cowl.
For 1929 the practical Tudor Sedan accounted for 523,922 orders, a mark
that would never again be achieved by any Model-A. Designated the
Model.55-A and virtually unchanged from 1928, the car cost $525 and put on
8 pounds in weight." Source, "90 Years of Ford" George H.
Dammann. |
